CLUB SEASON

 

Friendly matches are played throughout the season against other local clubs and we also play in several leagues for Men and Ladies. Friendly matches and League games are usually followed by tea and there is a chance to socialise after the game if you so wish. These matches are listed on our Fixtures List

 

We also have internal competitions that you can enter and in late August there is a Finals Weekend. Members may choose to bowl casually (we call it a 'roll up'). This is where members simply turn-up for informal games with other Club members. We also have a weekly “prize drive” where mixed teams bowl for a small prize at the end of the session. Thee drives are more relaxed than playing in competitions or playing against other clubs members new to the game valuable experience. The drives are held on Wednesday afternoons throughout the season. Further information on these drives and other competitions is on the Competitions Page.

Short mat bowing is carried out in the clubhouse during the winter months.  We are involved in a number of leagues and roll ups using the two mats are held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, there is a "sausage sizzler" session on Friday evenings and another roll up on Saturday morning.

Our annual dinner dance and prize giving is held in November and takes place at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club.

 

We are a mixed Club and are always looking for new members both experienced and beginners.  If you have never bowled before, don't worry as there is plenty of help and we have qualified coaches on hand. Bowling is fun, very social, and a good place to make new friends. Initially you do not require anything other than a pair of trainers as we will supply the bowls.  Before you join the club we allow you to have a month's trial to see if you enjoy it.  After that it's up to you.
